"Bewitched" does not promote satanism.

I haven't been able to pull myself away from the computer since I got back online. And I really have stuff I need to be doing, but it can wait until after this post. :)This is completely unfair. I already have every season of BtVS on DVD (except the season 1 set that belonged to my sister - her kids completely ruined the discs and they need to be replaced eventually). But I don't have the money to buy a new set and it's too much trouble to try to get rid of all the old ones anyway. *sigh* So no shiny new packaging or extras for me. Fortunately I don't really care about the extras *that* much unless there's new Spuffy or JM stuff that I haven't seen. Okay, I'll get over it. This will teach me to wait longer for all those shows I want on DVD.Copied from spacedoutlooneyI already did one of these before, but this one has more shows...Bold means I loved it/watched it religiously/etc.Italic means I liked it but did not watch religiously.Regular roman letters means I didn't see it or was pretty much indifferent to it.Strikeout means I have seen it but disliked it.* means I added this show to the listAbsolutely FabulousAdventures of Jules VerneAliasAlien NationAmazing StoriesAndromeda AngelArrested DevelopmentA-TeamThe AvengersAqua Team Hunger ForceBabylon 5Babylon 5: CrusadeBatmanBatman: The Animated SeriesBattlestar GalacticaBattlestar Galactica (New)Blake's SevenBeauty and the BeastThe Bionic WomanBrisco County Jr.Buffy the Vampire SlayerThe Crow: Stairway to HeavenDanger Man/Secret Agent Man*DariaDark ShadowsThe Daily ShowDead Like MeDoctor WhoDuck TalesEarth 2Electro-Woman and Dina-GirlFamily GuyFarscapeFireflyFreaks and GeeksForever KnightGreatest American HeroHighlanderHighlander: The RavenHR PuffinstufIsisKnight RiderKung-fuKung Fu: The Legend ContinuesLand of the LostThe Legend of HerculesLostLost In SpaceMaximum BobMy So-Called LifeMystery Science Theatre 3000Monty Python's Flying CircusThe Night GalleryNowhere ManThe Outer LimitsThe Powers of Matthew StarThe PrisonerProbeQuantum LeapRed DwarfRobin of SherwoodShazamThe Six Million Dollar ManThe Simpsons*SmallvilleSpace:1999Space: Above and BeyondSpace CasesStar Trek: TOSStar Trek: TNGStar Trek: DS9Star Trek: EnterpriseStar Trek: VoyagerStargate: SG-1Stargate: AtlantisStarmanTales from the CryptThe Third EyeTime TraxThe Tomorrow PeopleThe Twilight ZoneTwin PeaksVVeronica MarsVoyagers!Vampire: The MasqueradeWerewolf Wonder WomanWonderfallsXena: Warrior PrincessThe X-FilesX-Files: Lone GunmenYou Can't Do That On Television

I'm back, I'm back, I'm back!!!

I finally have my net connection back! YES! Expect lots of catch-up posts. Right now I have to give an update on what I've been watching.Nip/Tuck: I haven't been enjoying this season quite as much as the previous ones, but it's still a damn good show. Some of the patients this season have made me extra squeamish though. I mean, if you want to deal with necrophilia, incest, and a guy making a Frankenstein chick, go ahead, but combining them all in one episode is a bit much. Ew. I'm still loving the Carver story though. And really enjoying Christian/Kimber and Quentin, and Sean and Julia are still enjoyable dysfunctional. Really wanna smack Matt a bunch of times though. My Name Is Earl: Funny as hell. It's probably the most enjoyable network sitcom I've watched in a long time.Lost: I've been incredibly bored with the show all season, and so have my parents. But this week's episode was really good. I don't know whether to be impressed that they managed to kill off another character and make me actually care, or really pissed because they killed off one of the few characters I still like. Oh and Ana Lucia? I know I'm probably supposed to think she's the cool tough chick, but mostly I'm thinking "Die, bitch, die!" And I was saying that before she killed Shannon. Hate!Smallville: I became semi-hooked on this show last year when my sister and brother-in-law and their kids became obsessed with it. The other night I took the tape of this season's episodes over to their house and we watched them for hours. It's so much fun having other people to watch with me. I honestly have no complaints about this season. I like Lana, and Clana, and I still love Lex. I even find Chloe less annoying this season. Oh god, I'm watching a rerun right now and Lana is spreading whipped cream on Lex's lips. Holy crap. Okay, I'm back. I really loved this week's episode. I know Steven DeKnight has gotten a lot of criticism for his Smallville episodes, but I thought this one was excellent, probably the best I've ever seen. Oh, and I love JM. That is all.Rome: Love, love, love. History, and gratuitous sex, and violent, manipulative characters? Was this show made for me, or what? That's pretty much it right now. But I'm back, I'm back, I'm back. I missed everyone!

Outta my way, jerk-ass!

Good god, it's been a while since I updated! Once a month has been my average lately.Had a good Halloween. Ate lots of candy, and I even made a new friend. Awwww.

This award show is the biggest farce I've ever seen...

Hi, Lisa. We're going to be in a pie!

Fortunately, this hurricane decided not to hit us. We had pretty bad wind and rain for a while on Monday, and our power was out for a few hours. We were very lucky this time. The people in Mississippi and Lousiana, not so much.I hardly have any time any more to update my journal. My paid account and user pics run out this month. I'm not sure whether I should renew them or not. If my dad fixes my Internet connection at the house like he said he would, I may be able to get online at home again. But that's a pretty big "if".I'll probably renew it just because I love having a pretty paid account and hordes of pretty icons.Meanwhile, the fall season is coming up. What will I be watching? Well, let's see:- Nip/Tuck: I've been catching up with this show on FX. I saw most of season two last year, but after finally seeing season one, and rewatching the second season, I'm dying for more. The new season promo looks really cool and trippy.- Lost: Eh, I haven't been watching the reruns this summer, but I'll be watching in the fall. It hasn't lived up to my expectations, but I'll probably continue watching since everyone else in my family likes it.- Smallville: What I saw of this show last season was pretty underwhelming, but I am excited about seeing James Marsters.- Veronica Mars: This show still hasn't really grabbed me. Most of the episodes I've seen are good, but nothing compels me to watch every week. Sometimes, I forget about it. Is it on tonight? I don't even know. But I will give it the old college try when the new episodes start.None of the new shows look very appealing, but maybe I can find something that'll hold my interest.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug...

Wow. I'm away for a week and a half, and fandom goes bananas. Okay, not really. But apparently I missed out on some interesting discussions and a kerfuffle. The whole cousinjean thing is kinda baffling and disappointing. But I'm sure no one wants to rehash that, so I'm not gonna.Oh, but I do wanna comment on the whole Spuffy traumatizing thing: The only reason I don't ship any other pairing is not because Spike/Buffy made me too afraid to love (another pairing) again. It's because no other couple can match the shipping high I got from them.I need some good Firefly discussion. I really am enjoying the show. I've only seen up through "Bushwhacked" because I'm watching it on SciFi, but I'm spoiled like crazy. I think the show has some really brilliant characters, and it's just classic Joss all the way through. The movie looks awesome too. Guh. Need more Firefly now. I remember watching it when it first aired on Fox. "Our Mrs. Reynolds" was the only episode I watched in its entirety, and I loved it. Unfortunately, I could never really get into the show because Fox showed them out of order, and because I was still angsting over BtVS. I'm glad I have the opportunity to get into it now.ETA: Holy shit! 100 icons!!! Fuck yeah!

Is it just me, or do all these things seem really...lame?

Your priorities change when you're faced with the possibility of a natural disaster. Suddenly, television and movies aren't as important to you. It's truly horrific. I watched Batman Begins, but my attention wasn't really on it, so I'll have to watch it again before I decide to discuss it.And I finally finished watching my BtVS DVDs last week. I had a good cry after watching "Chosen". And this was *with the commentary on*. Maybe one day soon I'll be able to watch it all the way through. Now I'm not a huge season 7 hater, so I get annoyed by all the people putting it down. There are legitimate criticisms of season 7, but I always hate hearing people complain about it because they always focus their negativity on stuff I don't care about. The Beljoxa's Eye? Pfft. That's the least of my problems. So what especially bugged me about this season?1. Too much focus on extraneous characters and storylines - This season started off with strong arcs for Buffy, Spike, Willow, Xander, and Anya. Unfortunately, they were mostly sidelined by midseason to make room for crap like Potential training, Is Dawn a Slayer?, Is Giles the First?, Willow/Kennedy, and Wood's mommy issues. Frickin' Andrew, who was intended for comic relief, had a more emotionally complete story arc than most of our main characters. Plus, there *had* to be a way to make the Potentials and the First Evil interesting. Unfortunately, they didn't find it in time. They focused so much on the gang's interpersonal drama in season 6, and got a lot of negative feedback for it. Maybe they decided they should focus on other things in this season, and ended up tip-toeing around anything that would open up old wounds.2. Too much emphasis on the Big Bad - I prefer the days when each season had multiple character arcs and standalone episodes. In S7, almost every episode dealt with the First. Having all the Potentials inexplicably crammed into Buffy's house pretty much made that a necessity, but... I really preferred it when they learned everything about a major villain in just a few episodes, peppered throughout the season, like the Mayor or Glory. Maybe it was a little too convienient, but we didn't have to hear highly speculative exposition in every episode like with the First. Of course, the First Evil was a much bigger threat, but that didn't make it more interesting.I won't be able to get online until tomorrow, so any further discussion will have to wait until then. :(I'm planning on buying the Killers CD when I leave today. I've almost bought it twice this week. Last time, I almost bought it, but got AC/DC Live instead. But I believe today is going to be the day. When you're relatively broke like I am, you have to consider every purchase very, very carefully. Or maybe I'm just nuts.

Sex Cauldron?! I thought they shut that place down!

Well, I'm back. Our phone line is still not fixed, so I have to update from school. My class starts tomorrow, so I'll be able to come everyday. Hopefully, I'll be able to get online at home soon.It just figures that the few weeks I have for vacation are the exact time that my connection craps out on me. So what have I been doing with all my Net-less free time?1. Reading romance novels: My aunt gave me a bunch of them. Historical romances, so at least I feel a little smart for reading them, even if they all have the same basic plot and characters.2. Watching old movies on TV: My definition of "old" can be anything from 10 to 70 years though. I haven't seen Batman Begins yet, but I did see my original, beloved 1989 Batman on TNT a few times. I used to watch that movie all the time as a kid. They also showed Batman Forever, which was much crappier than I remembered. I probably just liked it because of Chris O'Donnell. My 13-year-old self had a crush on him.Other films I've watched or rewatched: Blade, Bull Durham, Dirty Dancing, Citizen Kane (which I feel much smarter for having seen), Les Miserables (with Liam Neeson, which I also feel smarter having watched).3. Watching Daria It comes on so late at night, but I don't care. I love this show.4. Cooking Man, I've been cooking up a storm. A lot of rice dishes. And chicken, because I love chicken. In fact, chicken and rice is my specialty.Oh, yeah, and my parents finally got a new car. It's a silver '03 Chevy Impala. Our old car was just not gettin' it done any more, and we needed something new.Maybe I should go weeks without posting more often. I seem to have more to say than usual. I miss my friendslist though. :(

Maybe if you're truly cool, you don't *need* to be told you're cool.

Do you ever feel like a dork because everyone on your friendslist is criticizing things that you enjoy? Probably not, because I tend to be way too insecure for my own good. It's not that I mind it. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and most of the time, I enjoy reading a thoughtful critique. But sometimes when people criticize things I like, I feel defensive (I know I'm not the only one there). And then I feel like maybe there's something wrong with me for liking a tv show/movie/book/band/song/whatever. It's completely irrational. But one thing I discovered very soon after coming online, was that no matter how great you think something is, there is always going to be someone there to tear it down.Things that I like that many people don't:- Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith: Plenty of folks on my friendslist enjoyed this movie. Some people didn't. No big. I really loved it, but I get that it wasn't for everyone. I think it was swsa who pointed out that you're not a true Star Wars fanatic until you've posted a diatribe about how George Lucas destroyed all your childhood memories. So I guess I don't qualify, even though I love the films to pieces (well, at least 4 out of the 6).- Coldplay: Really, it's no skin off my nose on this one. Contrary to what some people believe, they are not my favorite band. Not even close (that would be U2 or Garbage, depending on my mood.) I actually agree about a lot of the recent criticisms - overexposed, overrated, boring. I don't really care for the new single that much, and I don't know if I'll get the new album. But a lot of their songs still speak to me, and I enjoy the band for what they are.- The Great Gatsby: Weirdly enough, my favorite book (at least it was in high school) was the subject in some lj community a few months ago. I admit that the book may be a bit, I don't know, soapy for lack of a better description. But I really loved it. I didn't think it was boring at all, and I actually read it after I saw the movie.- Lost: I really enjoy this show. I mean, it's no Veronica Mars, but... :P I guess I really benefit from being a casual viewer. I don't know much about the fandom, and very few people on my flist still watch it. It's just when people who've never watched it take pot-shots at the show that I get annoyed. It is a bit over-hyped, but that's to be expected - it's a huge ratings success. And I get the feeling that some of the bitterness might be because it's more successful than some other shows that people like more. I'm just sayin'.- U2: I know that not everyone shares in the belief that they're the greatest band in the world. I don't even know if they're the greatest band, but I know I love them. I like their early 80s stuff, I love their more experimental 90s stuff, and I enjoy their current stuff. Some people like to criticize them for straying too far from their roots, but I say, screw that. They should do whatever the hell they feel like.Ah. I feel much better now that I've gotten that off my chest.

The common man kinda blows...

My computer has stopped being insane for a little while, so I've more or less caught up with my friendslist. I couldn't get online for most of the weekend. Very annoying.Because I was bored, I transcribed all of the Ultimate Super Heroes, Vixens, and Villains from the special on Bravo. Feel free to discuss. Or not, whatever dude.Ultimate Super Heroes1. It'll be just like Swiss Family Robinson! Only with more cursing!

I haven't read many thoughts about the Lost finale because my computer was being annoying last night. So here's what I thought: - OMG, crazy island cannibals kidnapped Walt! And they're going to sacrifice him to their island gods. Creepy.- OMG Sawyer got shot. Damn. I swear if he dies... well, I'll probably still watch, but I'll be pissed.- Charlie/Claire have won me back. They are so adorable, and one of the few bright spots on the island. Ditto Shannon/Sayid, whom I now dub Shanyid. Okay, scratch that.- I love Sawyer and Walt on the raft. "Why are gonna kill him?" "Because I have to." "Why?" "Because!" Hee. So wrong, but funny.- Jack is kind of an ass, making decisions for everybody else. But he's right when he says "Everyone wants me to be the leader until I make a decision they don't like!" So true. I like him and Locke together (though not in a slashy way - my heart belongs to Jack/Sawyer. Heh.)- Jin is very sweet. I never thought I'd say that at the beginning of the season, but there it is. Please save Sawyer from being shark-bait! Waaah!- As soon as Danielle said that The Others needed the boy, I knew they meant Walt, not Baby Aaron. Still, really scary.- What a hole! Anybody wanna take bets on who'll be the first to climb in?- "You've got some - Arzt - on you." Eeeeww. Poor Arzt.- Poor Hurley, having to buy two seats. That was just mean.- Poor Locke, having to be carried onto the plane. By the way, did they ever explain his paralysis? I went to the bathroom during that one episode where he gave his father a kidney, and I feel like I missed something big. Does it have something to do with surgical complications, or is it psychosomatic? Or did they just never tell us?I'm running out of things to say, although I know I'll probably think of more later. I'm not in a hurry for September to get here because I want to enjoy my summer vacation. But I am eager to for new episodes. Waaah! We need a Lost summer season. That would be perfect.

We'll live like kings! Damn hell ass kings!

Extra! Extra! Mystical love child! Buffy, Spike, and Angel have a child together?! All three of them!? Waaaah? Um, okay.Last movies seen: Troy, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Team America: World Police. I enjoyed them all, but now I've got "America, Fuck Yeah!" stuck in my head.Fanfiction that I'm looking for: Anybody got recs? - Revenge of the Sith fic: AUs in which Padme doesn't die an incredibly stupid death. How about some ultra-angsty Padme/Obi-Wan fic. Lots of angsty tormented Jedi sex. That would be hot. Or some good Anakin/Padme.- Buffy/Spike fic based on Eternal Sunshine: Where one or both of them has their memories of each other erased. I read one on ff.net, but it was only a few chapters, and it hadn't even gotten to the mindwipe yet. Can be Buffyverse, or Human AU, I don't care.- BtVS/X-Files crossovers: Preferably with Spuffy or/and MSR, during the Spike-arrific seasons 4-7.And I have much to say about the Lost finale last night, but I'll save that for later. I did think it was one of the better episodes of the season.

You're as pretty as Princess Leia, and as smart as Yoda.

Loved Sith. Loved it, loved it, loved it.I think a major problem with the first two films was the lack of connection to the original trilogy. There were all these new characters that no one cared about. But in this film, we saw the true origins of our space saga. It's been a long time since I've seen any Star Wars movies. The other prequels were never a huge disappointment for me because I knew that Episode III was gonna be the big one. I didn't really care about Anakin's childhood. I was much more interested in his turn to the dark side. I mean, who wasn't? I was not too disappointed.Anakin: Okay, I have a vague recollection of not liking teenaged Anakin in Episode II. I just remember thinking, "Why did Lucas cast this guy?" But in this one, I loved him. The transformation from Skywalker to Vader was done so gradually, it was chilling. And how creepy was it for him to be called "Darth Vader" for the first time, as a man? I know when I think of Vader, I think of the scary black armor. And how kick ass was the scene of them putting it on him? It was sad and terrifying. And then when he found out Padme was dead, and everything starting shaking and shattering. Oh yeah, that's the stuff.I think this film had more emotional resonance than any of the other films because this is the last one, and it ties up so much of the story. We finally see the origins of Darth Vader, and not only is he a tragic figure, he's a sympathetic one as well. At least to me, he was. First you have Yoda tell him that Jedi shouldn't form attachments and that he should let go of the one he loves. Then you have Palpatine telling him that the dark side can give him the power to save his loved ones. Who would you think of as the bad guy? The one telling you he could save your wife, or the one telling you to just let her die? I could totally understand why Anakin made himself believe that the Jedi were evil. But Yoda was right - by trying to save Padme, he just ensured that she would die, and doomed the galaxy while he was at it. Poor kid.Obi-Wan and Anakin: It was nice to see them as friends. I didn't remember them liking each other much in Episode II. So no wonder Anakin turns to the dark side. But they did a great job here of showing how close they had grown, and that made the betrayal that much more painful. "You were my brother! I loved you" Oy! Slash is not typically my thing, but I know the slashiness when I see it.Anakin and Padme: I still have to rely on my own imagination to really see the passion and intensity of their love. I've heard so many people who like the movie complain about Natalie Portman's performance. Just like people who liked Closer criticized her performance in that, and people who adored Garden State... well you get the idea. I agree that she got some of the cheesier dialogue, but it was still workable. The thing is, I was totally feeling the intensity of devotion from Hayden, but not her. Hmm... It was the same problem I had with Spiderman 2. I loved the whole movie, except for the central love story that was supposed to be the driving point. But unlike MJ, I actually liked Padme in the previous films. So let's just blame it all on Lucas' inability to direct actors, shall we? I did love their last scene together though. And he did the Vader choke-hold on her! Damn, that was really brave of Lucas.I love the way Vader's transformation was juxtaposed with Padme giving birth to Luke and Leia. That was just perfect. Just as Padme's last words, "There is still good in him, I feel it." was echoed by Luke in Return of the Jedi. I was seriously near tears.Yoda: Yoda da man. And how cool is it that Chewbacca was friends with Yoda?! They're like, buddies! Aw... I felt so bad for Yoda when all the Jedi were being killed. "Failed, I have." Aw, now here come the waterworks again.Basically, I loved the movie. I brought my nephew and two nieces to see it, and they loved it, even though they had never seen any of the Star Wars movies. At several points, Samantha told me "this movie is *so* *cool*!" Unfortunately, even that wasn't enough to make them stop getting up and buying snacks constantly. Next time I go to see a movie I really wanna see, I'm not taking the whole lot of younglings with me.ETA: Please forgive all the typos. Too excited for proper English!

Alternate ending - Luke's father is Chewbacca!

I'm still vibrating with happiness from the new Star Wars. Revenge of the Sith is kick ass. All is forgiven. More later.

It's only 5:15. Why are you in your underwear?

I continue to be intrigued, if not hooked, on this show. I'm interested enough to want to watch next season, so we'll see how it goes.First off, that was a lame cliffhanger. It's obviously Wallace at the door. It could possibly be Duncan, but even that didn't seem right, given her reaction. But if it is Wallace, it'll almost seem like a lame cop-out. Like that Friends finale where Ross was about to go into the bedroom - was it Rachel's? Or the bald chick's? And then the next season, we find out they were both in there. Pfft. And I don't wanna get clubbed with mallets, but - I don't get the Logan love. I mean, I like him, but I'm not in love with him. Granted, I haven't seen all the episodes yet, but even in the episodes I've seen, I hear people squeeing about "oh remember that scene where he was at the locker, and he did the thing, and he had that look, and -" And I'm like, no I don't remember that actually. What was so great about it? He really doesn't stand out to me any more than Duncan or Weevil or anyone else.I'm not saying he can't grow on me, but at this point, I actually find Duncan to be more interesting. I'm sure everyone else has a first impression of Duncan being boring. But my first impression was of him being crazy and interesting, and my only really visceral emotional reaction has been to Duncan's freak-out when he thought Veronica believed he was the killer, and the confrontation when Veronica found out they slept together.I guess I don't get the Veronica/Logan thing either. Maybe it's the fact that so many people I know are shipping them. When fellow Spuffy and Mulder/Scully shippers are praising a ship for it's chemistry, it makes me get my hopes up. Frankly, I haven't seen Gellar/Marsters or Duchovny/Anderson levels of chemistry between them. Which I guess is understandable given that they're young and don't have that much experience with acting (and their characters don't - presumably - have that much experience with relationships). It's very rare that I am able to get invested in a tv 'ship at all, but if it makes a good story, I'll stick it out. Which is why, while I don't particularly care about the Logan vs. Duncan arguments, I think it would make an interesting triangle (the only love triangles I enjoy are the ones where I have no emotional investment one way or the other.)Oh yeah, there was a murder mystery too, wasn't there? Heh. I remember someone postulating that it was Aaron, and I can't say that it was really a shock. The guy was creepy. And almost likeably creepy, which makes him even creepier, if that makes sense. This episode would have been better as a two-parter. Parts of it felt majorly rushed. Also, they could have had a perfectly good cliffhanger if they had Veronica and Duncan watching the tapes and seeing Aaron's face at the end of the episode. Then the second part could have the resolution. Like a few others have mentioned, it would have been more interesting, and unexpected, if Aaron hadn't ended up being the killer. Having him go after Veronica just to get the tapes back, and then she discovers that it was actually someone else. I just think that there was way too much in the episode to cram into one hour, but not quite enough for two hours.I know people in both fandoms get irked when people compare BtVS and VM, but I really don't have any other frame of reference that works, so pardon me. I mean no harm. Not that anybody's gonna read this, but just in case. :)

Watch out, Radioactive Man! The sun is exploding again!

Buffy Rogue's Gallery by lil_fattyIf you like BtVS and comics, then check out these pictures. They are SO COOL. There are also icons here.I'm starting to become obsessed with Buffy comics. It's kinda startling. May require professional help. I'm actually drooling. Also, here's a sweet, dirty little S/B fic: Wet Dreams by whenbuffysmiles.I found all of this through su_herald. So very convenient.

Oh, Lisa, you and your stories. Bart's a vampire. Beer kills brain cells.

From su_heraldfannishnej had an interesting discussion about ships in the Buffyverse here. And doyle_sb has a poll based on it here. It's interesting to see how credible certain 'ships are to different people. Vote if you haven't already. It's fun!1) Canon: We saw an actual relationship on screen or there was a clear reference to a past relationship.Cordelia/Xander, Fred/Wesley, Angel/Spike (yep). :)2) Near-Canon: We saw flirting or a one-time fling on screen, or there was the implication of a past relationship. I would put relationships that are only refered to in commentary or interviews into this category.Giles/Anya, Angel/Cordelia (almost a 1), Cordelia/Doyle, Angel/Faith, Willow/Xander, Cordelia/Wesley, Angel/Eve, Connor/Cordelia, Buffy/Faith, Giles/Ethan, Angel/Doyle (one word: Birthday), Andrew/Warren3) Non-Canon: There was no relationship on screen, but there was a significant amount of sub-text or build-up and the writers could easily have worked it into the series without distorting the characters too badly.Spike/Willow, Buffy/Xander (although, ew), Willow/Giles (just 'cause I like the ship in fanfic), Willow/Fred, Anya/Willow, Faith/Lilah, Cordelia/Faith (just because I've read a few fics that made me think it could work), Gunn/Wesley, Angel/Wesley, Xander/Oz, Angel/Lindsey, Andrew/Xander, Riley/Xander (hee!)4) Unconventional: There was no relationship, and it's highly unlikely that the writers could or would have worked it into the series without drastically changing who the characters are.Buffy/Giles, Spike/Willow, Joyce/Xander, Buffy/Cordelia, Fred/Harmony, Buffy/Willow, Anya/Tara, Cordelia/Harmony, Faith/Willow, Cordelia/Lilah, Buffy/Tara, Dawn/Faith, Fred/Cordelia, Spike/Xander, Giles/Xander, Giles/Oz, Giles/Wesley, Connor/WesleyETA: You know, it really urks me when people assume that slash & unconventional ships are better written in fanfic than het & canon ships. 'Cause I have read some truly shitty slash and UC fiction in my day. So much so that it makes me run back to the Spuffy most of the time. But whatever.ETA 2: When did Joss ever say that B/X would end up together in the end? I've never heard him say that. Until somebody can produce an actual quote, I refuse to believe it. *stamps foot*

Well, as a matter of fact, my refrigerator wasn't running. You've spared me quite a bit of spoilage.

I didn't go to school today. I guess I'll have to do a lot of reading tonight to make up for missing class. I'm still debating over whether I'm going tomorrow since I only have one class. I'm really getting tired. Hopefully I'll only have maybe one or two classes this summer, and I can get a part-time job.I'm really gettting antsy about this paper for my English class. We got an extension so I've got two more weeks. I only have two and a half pages to go, but my brain is *so* jumbled, I don't know what I'm gonna write. Ugh! I just want it over with.I love SMG's new hair color! For those of you who are Veronica Mars fans: I've only seen VM like, three times, but from all the discussion on LJ, I know a lot of the major plot points. I'm sure there's plenty of little stuff that I've missed, but here's what I know so far:* Veronica's best friend Lilly was murdered. Veronica's dad, who used to be sherriff, believes that Lilly's father did it. The man who is in jail for the murder is dying. Veronica is conducting her own investigation.* Veronica's mother is currently in rehab.* Veronica used to date Lilly's brother Duncan, who has a form of epilepsy, and Veronica suspects he may be the killer. Also, he may possibly be Veronica's brother?!* Logan is Duncan's best friend and was Lilly's boyfriend. His father is an actor, and his mother committed suicide.* Veronica was drugged and raped at a party, and she doesn't know who did it.I know that's pretty bare bones, but that's all I know. Feel free to fill in the blanks if you think there's something I really need to know.

He's a sad, lonely, troubled little boy. He needs to be isolated from everyone.

Okay, I take back every non-worshipful thing I might have said about Veronica Mars. This show rocks. But I'm not gonna become obsessed with it or anything. I'm not. I'm not.

Wherever there is mystery and the unexplained, cosmic forces shall draw me near.

Duchovny Ready for More MulderHuh. That might be kind of interesting. I was never much an X-Files fan after Mulder left, but I would like to see another movie just to see one last great adventure for Mulder and Scully. And there could be smoochies! And hot sex! Whether they ever get it off the ground is another thing entirely.I'd much rather have an X-Files movie than another BtVS, Angel, or Spike movie. See, I was actually satisfied with the way Buffy and Angel ended, and I don't want to see them crank out something sub-par just to satisfy a few fans (most of whom are never satisfied by anything Joss does anyway.)I cleaned half of my room today, and now I'm gonna start on the other half. Dust monsters are threatening to form under my bed if I don't vacuum soon.

Now, son, they do a lot of quality programming too. - BWAHAHAHAHA!

Man, Fox really sucks. It really pisses me off that they cancelled Tru Calling before the premiere of its much improved second season. I wasn't planning on watching the remaining episodes because I hated the first season, but my niece came over last week and wanted to see it. I was surprised at how much more watchable it was. This week's episode was really good too. Dammit, I'm getting involved, even though I know it's not gonna go anywhere.I know Fox has brought back shows before (or a show, Family Guy), but Jane Espenson has already landed a job writing for The Insider, I believe it's called, which is premiering next fall. Then again, if Jane had the chance to go back to a show where she actually got to be executive producer, she would, right? Ah well, it doesn't matter because it would take blockbuster ratings or phenomenal DVD sales for the show to be revived, and it just doesn't have that kind of following.Make fun of me for liking Tru if you want, but it really did have potential. More than Point Pleasant, that's for damn sure.

Sure, I'm all dizzy and nauseous, but where's the inflated sense of self-esteem?

I haven't updated in a while (it's amazing how many of my posts start with that), so I figured I'd check in. I've been mega-busy with RL stuff. School mostly. Also, my mother's been sick for the last few months which means that I've got a ton of stuff that I have to do around the house. Right now I have to do the dishes, mop the floor, and wash clothes. And maybe give the dog a bath, if I have time. Plus, I have to fit homework in there somewhere. In short, Spring Break cannot get here fast enough. I need way more than *one* week for vacation.I could cry when I think of all the fanfics I have yet to read, and all the folks on my FL whose posts I wish I had time to comment on. I'm doing my best to keep up with everything though. Sometimes I don't think online stuff should be such a big priority for me, but I'd go even crazier without it.Love to all ya'll.

Oh, yeah! Shake it, madame. Capital knockers!

cindermom: I loved her stories "Slow Motion" and "Roman Holiday".__tiana__: I recently discovered her mega-drabbles, and I really enjoy the diversity she brings to her stories. I'm trying to make time to read her long fics as well.ladyoneill: She's been in the BtVS fandom forever, and is still going! Yay! That's pretty inspirational in and of itself. She writes a lot of different pairings, so some of her stuff isn't my cup o' tea, but nobody writes smut like her. :)mrmonkeybottoms: The Buffybot's answers to Buffy's psych exam in "The Adventures of Spike & Buffybot" is one of the funniest scenes I've ever read. Her stories are pure fun.buffyx: She writes fantastic angst. It's so pretty, it hurts. Her style reminds me a bit of anniesj.Speaking of which, I miss anniesj. :( "The Ballad of Randy & Joan" and the unfinished "Waking the Dead" are still among my all-time favorites. Also, in honor of the Spuffy Kinkathon, I've decided to post a list of my fanfic kinks. A lot of things I like in fanfic are things that annoy other people. Not all, but some of them. Some of these are embarassing to admit:1. Song fics. No, not that kind. I hate stories that are built around song lyrics, or stories that have the character listen to a song and think about what another character means to them, or some bullshit like that. I mean, stories that use songs to help set the mood, or establish a setting. My favorite example is probably anniesj's "The Ballad of Randy & Joan". Also, jodyorjen's "Electrical Storm" and Dare's "The Dark Shades" are part of the reason for my U2 obsession. And cousinjean's "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" made me go out and buy that White Stripes album. So, I guess it helps if the author has similar musical preferences to mine. :)2. Wishverse fics. I love AUs that are built directly from canon, whether it's the Wishverse, the Normal Again universe, or a fan-created universe. "The Wish" is my second favorite episode of all time. I really want Wishverse!Spuffy.3. Vamp!Buffy fics. I really like these kinds of stories if they can manage to avoid the pitfalls of vamp-fanon: "mating", "claiming", and the use of "childe" (especially if they're capitalized). *shudder*4. Baby fics: Why do I like babyfics when I don't like babies? There's just something about the idea of Spike as a daddy that makes me "awwww...". And isn't pregnancy supposed to make you horny as hell? That's a pornalicious goldmine right there. :)5. Human AU fics: Yes, a lot of them are badly written. But when I stumble across one that isn't, it's a treat unlike any other. Normally, I don't like the high school ones, but College!Spuffy, Pirate!Spuffy, and student/teacher Spuffy, among others, are always cool.

In high school I was voted most likely to be a mental patient, hillbilly, or chimpanzee.

Okay. I am very late with the Fanfiction Authors Appreciation Week. Since it's like day four, I'm going to post a bunch of authors to catch up.I read fanfic all the time, although I haven't read as much lately as I have in the past. Still, I read at least a little bit every day. Mostly, I get my fic the old-fashioned way: from fic sites and archives. It's hard for me to keep up with fics on lj, so there are a lot of great lj authors that I am only beginning to discover, but I'm sure I'll get around to them. :)nautibitz: Yeah, I know she's well-known, and everybody has probably read her stuff (numerous times). But there's a reason for it! Nauti does some of the most authentic Buffy dialogue I've ever read. Her dialogue sounds like it could be taken directly from the show's scripts. Plus, her stories are fun! My favorite stories tend to be humorous and sexy, and that describes Nauti perfectly. But at the same time, I'm afraid it makes her stories sound like cotton-candy fluff. They're not. They hold up incredibly well, and I'm sure I'll look back at them years from now, and still love them. It would be hard for me to narrow down a favorite, but it's hard to top "In Heat". I also adore her "Crash and Burn" (I would say that highschool AUs are my guilty pleasure, except that I don't feel guilty about it), "Heart Don't Lie" (ditto with babyfics), and "Wild Things".treacle_a: I read her post-Chosen story "No Mistakes" and loved it. And her current WIP "Mortal Wounds" is even better. She managed to take a character I loathed the concept of (the Immortal), and created a fantastic story. Buffy's slow unraveling of the mystery of what he's done to her and Spike is pretty chilling.fer1213: Bless fer. It's nice to know there are still people out there who are enthusiastic about Spuffy. And it definitely shows in her writing. Her fill-in-the-blank stories are wonderful, and I loved her long stories "When We Fight" and "Third Chances". She writes great dialogue and plot, and even though she doesn't think so, her smut is pretty hot too. :)cousinjean: She manages to write Spuffy stories that would make great novels (if the publishers had any taste). I adore her "Perfect World", "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground", and "The Butterfly Effect". She has also been overseeing (for the last four years!) the longest fanfiction saga I've ever bothered to read: "Dancing Lessons". I don't usually go for extremely long fics because they tend to become too far removed from canon. But cj always manages to get the tone just right. I can actually believe that her stories could happen in the Buffyverse.More later...

Television! Teacher, mother, secret lover...

I watched more TV this week than I have in a long time. There's sure to be something for everyone here: The Simpsons, Veronica Mars, House, Lost, Alias, Smallville, The O.C.The Simpsons: Lenny + Carl 4-Eva!Veronica Mars: Was pretty interesting. Kristen Bell is growing on me, and I liked the 80s dance theme in the episode. And Logan cries very pretty. The only thing that might possibly prevent me from watching regularly would be having to see Alyson Hannigan again. Yeesh. She was horrible.House: I'm not really into medical shows at all, but I really enjoy House's snarky meanness. It prevents this show from being like all the other boring procedural dramas that I hate.Lost: I missed the first half because I was sick. I did catch the last half-hour, and it was long enough for me to wonder what the fuck these people are smoking. Why would you wanna go out on a raft into the middle of the ocean when you're most likely hundreds of miles from any other land? I'd rather take my chances on Polar Bear Island. I hope I didn't miss any Shannon/Sayid smoochies.Alias: Was actually interesting this week. Sark is back! Yeah. Not much to say, but Sark! Hee. :) As other's have pointed out, why didn't Syd get help for Nadia right away? Maybe they were trying to heighten the tension, or maybe the episode ran short and they had to stretch the scene out. Heh. Dum da dum dum.Smallville: So they're at this Russian gulag or something, and Lana is apparently possessed by some ancient sorceress or something. WTF? Yeah, I was barely paying attention anyway. I haven't caught a new episode in a few weeks, so I really don't know what's going on. Maybe that's for the best. The O.C.: Was good. I mostly watch this show for the music and the funnies. Lindsay leaving, blah blah, Marissa's a lesbian this week, blah blah. Again, I mostly just watch for the funnies, and Seth delivered as usual. Although I have to say I was worried that he was going to fall off the roof, and like, die or something, 'cause it looked really dangerous up there. But I was insanely delighted by the Seth/Summer kiss, not because I care about the 'ship, but because of the Spider-Man homage. Hee!

Interesting poll

At the time, of course, I hated the attempted rape, and I still wish it hadn't happened. But then I think of all the great post-Grave fics that I've read dealing with it, and I'm not sure I would want to give up all that angst. :)I have to agree on Cordelia though. She was one of my faves and I hated her entire storyline after mid-season three. It's interesting that Spike fans and general fans alike were most frustrated with his and Cordelia's storylines. The Giles/Wood plot to kill Spike? Heh, I kinda love that one just for that moment when Buffy tells Wood that she'll let Spike kill him. :)Also, non-Spike fans seem more upset about character deaths. I'm still amazed at the amount of controversy that surrounded Tara's death. I mean, I liked Tara alright, but she wasn't a character that was anything more than peripheral most of the time. I know, homophobic dead lesbian blah blah. I just don't buy it. If Joss was homophobic, he wouldn't have featured a loving gay relationship on the show for three years. The Beljoxa's Eye? At this point, I'm getting sick of people mentioning this. It's becoming a symbol for just how much S7 sucked in some people's eyes. You know, I could complain about Acathla or the Mayor's Ascension, but I don't because that's not the point of the bloody storyline.I'm not surprised that there's frustration over AtS S4. It was just an incoherent mess. I've been watching the reruns again, and man, it gets more frustrating every time I see some of these episodes (Ooh, look Angelus in a cage! Wow!). I don't think the show ever fully recovered from it.Buffy beating Spike in Dead Things: I didn't hate this plot, I just mostly hated the fact that it was completely dropped in the next episode. Still, I see all these fics where Spike or Buffy brings it up like, a year after the fact, and I think "Do you really believe either of them are still thinking about that?" Get over it.Buffy leaving Spike in the basement: Um, did these people miss "Him"? I mean, I hate the episode more than anyone, but if you really pay attention, you'll notice that Buffy did get him out of the damn basement. *rolls eyes* Like swsa said once, if people had been paying attention in S7, they would have realized that they got pretty much everything they wanted.

I watched TV all the time when I was a kid, and I turned out TV.

I haven't properly pimped my new icon. It's Spike & Buffy from "I Only Have Eyes for You". 'Cause I love taking B/A episodes and making them all about the Spuffy. :) zoicite made it for me.I watched the last half-hour of Veronica Mars tonight, since I was actually in the mood for some tv, which is actually pretty rare lately. It was alright, although I still don't like the lead actress. Plus, they showed the promo for next week with Alyson Hannigan. So, yeah, they really know how to run me off.I'm watching American Idol right now, or half-watching. I stopped being interested in the show about two years ago. I usually just listen to it when there's nothing else on. House comes on next. I've watched it for the last two weeks just because I'm too lazy to change the channel after AI. It's actually a good show though.(And if I've confused you about how I'm able to watch all these shows without a Tivo or anything, it's because we have Dish Network and the shows come on at all different times. Having east coast and west coast channels has always been convenient. Unless it's after midnight, I don't miss much that comes on in prime time.)And right now I'm looking for Lost fic. Not sure what specifically, but it'll probably be smut. Okay, it'll definitely be smut. :)

Oh, dude, Lost was on tonight, wasn't it?

I watched it, I just forgot to post about it.I really want to like this show. There are times I see flashes of brilliance and think, yes, this show is not a complete waste of time! But those moments are few and far between. If I didn't see such potential for this show, I wouldn't care so damn much.So far, my favorite Lost moments have been:* Locke can walk! It's a miracle! A really freaky cool miracle.* Kate and Sawyer shut the hell up and kiss. And it was surprisingly hot.* Island golf! Woo hoo! This is one of the few times it seems the show wasn't taking itself too seriously.* Charlie hanging from a fucking tree! Dude!* Dude, Boone slept with his sister stepsister! And Locke is really fucking psycho! Ah, hallucinogenic goo, that's brings back memories from the good ol' days of The X-Files.And that's about it. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few cool things along the way, but so far, not enough has really *happened*, you know? The really cool moments I mentioned are enough to keep me watching, but not enough to make a satisfying viewing experience. That's right, Lost is a tease.Onto tonight's episode:When they cornered Ethan tonight, I was rooting for them to blow his head off, 'cause that's the only way to deal with psychos in movies and tv. They'll just keep getting right back up if you don't make sure they're good and dead. Then as soon as Charlie actually shot him, I was like, dude, maybe that wasn't such a good idea after all. :P The mystery continues...Is it just me, or were the flashbacks in this one a little extraneous? The reason they worked well on BtVS and Angel was because the backstory usually paralleled and tied-in with the present-day story. And also because they weren't in *every*. damn. episode. I'd like to see just one episode that focused only on the island. Just to mix things up a bit.Since I'm spoiler-free, I was thinking about doing a post speculating about who's going to die by the end of the season, and maybe give Vegas-style odds for each character. I might still do it if I get bored enough. Which is a distinct possibility.

Mmm, pizza good, fandom annoying

First of all, awmp made my new personalized icon. Hand porn! Check out her latest icons here.I took the munchkins out for pizza tonight. It was fun. Came home and watched a little Smallville. I've been watching season two since my sister has the DVDs. I've already seen some of them when they originally aired, but it's easier to follow the plot when you can watch them all in a row without commercial breaks and hiatuses. Yay for DVDs and syndication! So, yeah, I'm feeling the Smallville love. There's just something very charming about it. I'm not sure I want to get fannish about it though. Then I'll feel pressured to feel the Lana hate, and blah blah blah. Sometimes, I really just like enjoying a show without all the fandom drama, you know? It feels like lately, everywhere I go, people are arguing over crap that I could really care less about. I guess since BtVS and AtS are over, people in the fandom need something to get riled up about. I'm not talking about the people on my flist, since ya'll are about the only sane people I can find in fandom lately. It's just that, since the show is over, why do people still feel the need to rag on JM/SMG/Buffy/Spike/Spuffy, or anything else I like? If you don't like these characters, or the show, why are you *still* talking about it? Then again, a lot of these folks are the same ones who complained about the last three seasons of the show, and still wouldn't stop watching and spare us their inane bitching.Basically, fandom's been pissing me off lately, so I'm not too keen on it. Or maybe it's just PMS. Who knows?
